"Welcome back, mr. Anderson!"(Agent Smith - Matrix)
Altough the links I've sent were useful, I think they're a little bit of boring, so I Remembered some things I've tryed for practice my listenning, and I'd like to suggest to you.
Feel the words
Something very useful I like to do is memorize lyrics of musics and, when hearing them, think in the meaning of each word. So when you mean the same thing as the song says, you will automatically remember the lyrics and know what to say.
Pronounce
Speaking of music, I've noticed interesting things in some musics few months ago, but only remembered now. If my "magic" works, the videos will open in the parts I've mentioned.
First one is a song from Lily Allen, "Alfie". There are two parts where she doesn't pronounce the "t":
..."all you do is stay and play on your [compu'er](computer) games"...
and, shortly after:
"...[li'o](little) brother please refrain from doing that..."
Maybe it's her accent, she's from London. Ah, I hope the girls don't mind about what happens on the video in this part of the music, he he.
I found this other one curious: There's a part of the lyrics of P.O.D.'s "Youth of the Nation" that, I guess, could be written in two ways:
"...but who knew that this day [wasn't like] the rest..."
or
"...but who knew that this day [was unlike] the rest..."!
The two ways sound equal one to other, and both has the same meaning! Well, Sonny sings quite fast in this part, but I think that listenning again and again you will see(oops, I mean listen)!
Do it yourself
Speaking of repeating until you understand, sometimes I receive by e-mail(or search for) some funny videos in english, so I write down all the words I can understand from them(for some of them, it's necessary to listen again and again and again...). I was thinking about suggest doing this in the blog, but it's too easy to cheat, he he.
So, just for you to practice(and relax too), here are two of them(I gues you must have saw them already, but they worth to be watched again)!
First an easy one: Trolling Saruman;
In this second one, "the coon" talk's quite fast, but I guess you'll like the music, huauhahua: Justin Bieber In South Park.
"Hasta la vista, baby!"(Terminator - Terminator 2)
Hey man, that's sooo f. funny, where did you get all that stuff? That thing about POD, I guess I'd never notice that myself! lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a very funny post!
Thanks!
BTW I guess MY English would be much better if I muself were such a hardworking student! LOL
Well, I don't know, maybe it was the voices on my head, huauhauha, just kidding!
ReplyDeleteAbout Lily Allen, I usually try to understand musics lyrics and this song was playing on the radio by chance, then I noticed it. With POD it was almost the same, but I had to see the lyrics because Sonny, the singer, sings too fast.
This hardwork is balanced with my lazy brain, and the result is that I still need to study some basics of english, he he.
